How Much Mulch Will 10 Yards Cover?
While 10 yards doesn’t sound like a lot it is. Basically, a cubic yard of mulch can be spread to cover 100 square feet at roughly a 3-inch depth. So 10 yards covers roughly 1,000 square feet. To help put into perspective a typical bag of mulch from lowes or home depot will cover around 1.5-cu ft. You would need around 170 bags of mulch to cover the same space.
3 Best Ways To Grow Grass Around Charlottesville, VA
1: Sod Grass = Instant Grass
Sod is a preferred option for those that don’t want to wait for the grass to grow and want instant satisfaction. Often ideal on new homes or high traffic areas where you don’t want to walk through the mud for months while the grass grows. We use only locally sourced Virginia Sod grass that is freshly harvested. Each pallet has roughly 540 SQ/FT.
2: Hydroseed = Supercharged Grown Grass
Hydroseeding is a specialized process of creating a slurry of seed and mulch. We have a large hydroseeder in which we mix seed, fertilizer, lime, specialized hydro-mulch, and water and then basically paint the lawn with a firehose. This slurry mix coats the ground making it easy to identify where it’s at and retains moisture so that seeds don’t dry out or wash out. Hydroseeding allows the grass to grow thick and quickly.
3: Seed & Straw = Slow and Steady Grown Grass
This is a tried and true method that does work and grows beautifully. This process does take longer to install and also takes longer to grow. However, if you are not in a hurry for the grass to grow or have an area of the yard that just needs some patchwork this is an ideal option.
Don’t Buy Sod From The Large Hardware Stores
This is not us trying to say buy from us, but what you need to realize is Sod grass at these stores is left sitting out in the heat on hot asphalt. The grass gets burned up and you’ll put down brown and dying grass instead of grass that will root properly.
